Coach Devonte Maymon is a dedicated youth coach, mentor, and community leader committed to developing not just strong athletes, but strong young people. With over five years of experience mentoring, training, and coaching through MSCR (Madison School & Community Recreation), he has built a reputation for helping student-athletes grow in confidence, discipline, teamwork, and a lifelong love for sports.
A former high school and college basketball player, Coach Maymon brings valuable playing experience and an athlete’s perspective to his coaching. He emphasizes fundamentals, work ethic, and mindset while creating an environment where players are challenged to grow both on and off the court.
Now in his second year as head coach at Gillespie Middle School, Coach Maymon led his team to the 2024–2025 Middle School Championship, establishing a culture built on accountability, hard work, and belief. In addition to coaching, he serves as a School Safety Assistant at Gillespie, allowing him to mentor and support students daily while continuing to use basketball as a tool to build confidence, character, and leadership in the next generation.
